The story on the dial
The column stands 29.35 metres and is made of fifteen identical octahedral modules, plus two half modules at the ends. That is all. One single element, repeated, and two fragments that close the series without finishing it.
The halves are the whole secret. If the series ended with a full module, the column would have a top and a base, and so a limit. Cut in half, the ends suggest that the form continues beyond them, into the ground and into the air.
Two kinds of time meet on a dial: the module that repeats without end and the hand that comes back every twelve hours. An object that measures cyclical time carries, on its face, a form that refuses to stop.
The contradiction was not resolved. It was left there, because it is the work.
