Painting, engraving and micro-sculpture on a four-centimetre silver dial

An article from September 2026 on the three families of technique that meet on the same silver disc: painting puts something onto the surface, engraving takes something out of it, micro-sculpture works in relief. In the Bucharest workshop all three pass through the same pair of hands, and the product sheets declare mixed techniques by name.

Voice-Front gives the examples from the catalogue: Byzantine-style micro-painting on SFÂNTUL GABRIEL, the composer's face painted by hand on CHOPIN, with keys cut from mother-of-pearl and stone, at 47 mm, Anubis engraved in gold and silver on CONCEPTUL ANUBIS, micro-painting and engraving on the same disc on APOLLO 11. The brushes are modified by Augustin, as he told Adevărul in 2019.

The list of materials is just as precise: silver, yellow and rose gold, steel, mother-of-pearl, slate, wood, rhodochrosite, volcanic rock, meteorite particles, diamonds and earth, all under a sapphire crystal.
