Landscape and theology, on the dial

A profile from August 2018. Augustin Matei studied landscape architecture and theology, in Sacred Art, worked in interior and furniture design, then spent ten years making terrace gardens.

His first dial took almost four years of attempts. The article describes the techniques he has used since, micro-sculpture, micro-painting and hand engraving, and says that, on average, the client receives the watch in about a month.

Among the pieces mentioned is one that reached Sylvester Stallone. At the end, Augustin talks about an hourglass mechanism he was thinking about at the time; the hourglass watch appeared a few months later.
