Augustin Matei turned down a watch for Ciprian Marica: “I don't make watches with a towel”

Cancan, 3 November 2026: at the Business Lounge Magazine gala, Augustin Matei gave a watch made for Ioan Andone. The organisers had proposed giving it to Ciprian Marica instead. Augustin refused, with the reply Cancan put in its headline: “I don't make watches with a towel.”

The recipient had been chosen by the man, not by football, which Augustin says he does not follow: from his first meeting with Ioan Andone a bond remained that decided the watch. A piece goes to the person it was conceived for, and some requests are not accepted.
