MY WATCH FOR POPE FRANCIS

This unique watch has been presented to the Pope Francis by Romanian Government during his pilgrimage to Romania. The dial of the watch is decorated with illustration of St. Francis of Assisi, inspired by a glorious fresco “St. Francis feeding the birds” painted by one of the most significant artists over the centuries – Giotto.
 
On the dial are closed three symbolic elements that bring out the emotional bond between different places, linked together in the figure of Pope Francis: piece of rock from Argentina, a bit of the volcanic rock from Etna and the piece of soil from Romania.

The design of this silver dial was inspired by the character from the childhood – captain Nemo from the novel by Julius Verne. In the project there are hidden some GPS coordinates. The paintings themselves are fairytale images of sea creatures (micro-sculptured silver octopus) and lands discovered by captain Nemo.

In the graphics of the dial, we see the figure of a Vitruvian man painted on the basis of Leonardo’s drawing (a man with perfect proportions). In the project, beyond the date of birth of the genius, a coded message was hidden.
